…is the major shopping centre in the area with a three-floor modern shopping complex, factory outlets, traditional Spanish shops and a huge market on Fridays in the town centre. Habaneras

First stop for many is the huge Carrefour just outside town on the Crevillente road which sells everything and is very popular with Spanish and expats alike…if you don´t like crowds go in the evening, its open til late. Next door is the newly opened Habaneras shopping centre, three floors of shops with High Street names and cafes aplenty.  There´s a kids play area on the top floor too.. For a more traditional flavour why not wander around Torrevieja itself? The main shopping areas are located in and off Calle Ramon Galud, the street running parallel to the seafront.

Another modern shopping complex is situated between the town of San Pedro del Pinatar (famous for its healing mud baths) and San Javier, both interesting towns to wander around especially on market days (Monday in San Pedro and Thursday in San Javier).

The Dos Mares centre has two floors of shops and a cinema as well as kids favourites like Burger King. Take the N332 from Torrevieja towards Cartagena or the AP7 motorway, exit at junction 777.

For those who need a big-city shopping experience, there are three fabulous cities within a hours drive of Torrevieja. All have major shopping centres, department stores and historic old town centres with windy streets crammed with pavement cafes and expensive boutiques. Its hard to pick a favourite, each has a feel of its own but if pushed I´d go for Murcia for shopping and Alicante for atmosphere and the great marina/seafront area. Local coach companies run trips every week for around 10€.

There are local street markets (mercadillos) every day in the towns and villages all around the region. Some are a bit touristy but most still retain the traditional flavour and the Spanish Marias flock there to buy their fruit and veg and have a good old gossip!! Great places to people-watch while picking up your bargains.   See our market day planner for full details

Two new HUGE shopping complexes have recently opened outside Murcia on the Alicante/Murcia motorway close to the football stadium. Thader and Condomina. All the big UK names are there inlcuding IKEA, Primark, Iceland, C&A et al….easiest way to get there is on a coach trip, cost is around 10€-12€.
