Villamartin Area
Villamartin has become one of the most popular locations on the Costa Blanca and although the golf courses provide a huge attraction for many visitors, Villamartin has a lot more to offer.
With a real sense of community Villamartin residents have made their urbanisations and communal areas into attractive and welcoming places for visitors. The area encompasses several commercial centres so supermarkets, banks and entertainment are never far away. And its only 5 minutes drive from the popular beaches at La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Campoamor. Villamartin is fairly busy all year round but if you don´t like crowds avoid the July/August period or stay in the quieter areas like Ramblas or El Galan.
Villamartin sits at the centre of the Orihuela Costa region encompassing La Zenia, Blue Lagoon, El Galan and Los Dolses, as well as the golf resorts of Las Ramblas and the 4-star Campoamor Hotel and Sports complex. Campoamor now has its own new commercial centre giving a much-needed boost to the resort with some great new bars and restaurants.
The famous and atmospheric
Villamartin Plaza is the hub of the entertainment in the area with its palm covered courtyard, resident paraqueets and a wealth of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets. Some great new ones have opened up during the past year and the credit crunch has brought prices down so now the choice is even better!! Enjoy a sundowner in one of the terrace bars, take your time over a nice meal, then a night-cap or three in one of the late bars with live entertainment..Perfect! For the younger generations (and the young-at-heart) there are late bars in most of the commercial areas, with DJ nights and/or karaoke (love it or hate it..), and the infamous Cabo Roig strip is just a 10 minute cab ride away.

Eating and Drinking in Villamartin area
Here you are so spoilt for choice that am afraid we aren´t going to have room for everything!! Lets start with where it all began….
Villamartin Plaza - Top quality restaurants aplenty, they are all good and some are excellent. We recommend (in no particular order) Bogeys - varied menu, we have tried most things and never been disappointed, La Plaza, (see our review) – stylish lounge area, TV
sports, great food and top quality live entertainment most nights. For steaks Che is the place to head for and for something a bit special try The Square or Eduardo´s, both top quality food and service. All the restaurants have outdoor terraces in the summer. Good bars include Chemies for chilling´n´meeting, Kelco for lounging, 3 sports screens and good food, Barrys for late night karaoke and for the morning after The Winchester serves the best breakfast around.
Across the road from the Plaza is Drivers sports bar with Sky sports and a year-round sun terrace. Great for a pre-dinner drink before heading next door to one of our favourite Italian restaurants La Dolce Vita, great food and happy prices before 7.15pm.
Riojas/Los Dolses - Two commerical centres about 10 minutes walk from the Plaza. In Riojas we highly recommend Interim, limited menu but the food and service are superb, another good Italian is here too, Solo Mio. In Los Dolses there are numerous
bars with food, very popular during the daytimes but not so busy as the Plaza at night. For sports fans Madigans and Gingers have big screens, for a nice friendly local-style atmosphere try PB´s, a comfortable bar with good food, TV and Wi-fi and they do a superb Sunday lunch too (best to book 966765805). There are two Indian restaurants, a Greek cafe, a Chinese and a couple of bistro-type eateries, but the pick of the restaurants here is Run Tao, Asian cuisine including Thai and Vietnamese dishes…scrummy!
Campoamor/El Galan - There´s a selection of English-style bars and cafes scattered around this area, mostly serving pub meals. A few are worth noting, Captains Table does great fish and chips, The Vault is a new stylish bar/restaurant, and tucked away behind is The Hidden Shamrock, a pretty patio-style bar with food off the barbeque. Just up the road towards
Campoamor The Royal Oak is popular with families as it has a childrens playa area outside.
The newly opened La Fuente centre is filling up nicely with good quality bars and restaurants offering a good variety of daytime and evening entertainment. We love Fuegos upstairs, offering great tapas and daily specials, 3 sports screens and a sunny terrace all year round. Opposite is Bernie DÁrcys, one of two Irish bars on the complex, traditional pub food and excellent live bands on most nights, if you like rock music don´t miss Plan B on Fridays or Acacia Avenue on Saturday nights. Crystals is the pick of the restaurants, very classy but with an affordable Wine n Dine menu, and Rubys next door is a better-than-average Indian restaurant and take-away.
La Zenia – Moving towards the coast the area of La Zenia has some established cafes and bars, most notably the two Irish Bars, Goghartys and Paddys Point, both with live music at weekends and very popular. Alejandro´s opposite is a daytime cafe serving good food and is a popular meeting spot, its packed all year round.
Across the N332 and behind the main road to the beach is a small commercial area with some very good restaurants, Indigo is a superb Indian restaurant and there´s Al & Bennys for American style ribs, steaks, pizza etc. Shame about the location as the restaurants here are rarely busy despite a good reputation. Right on the beach is Mirador, a huge Spanish cafe/ restaurant, food is nothing special but its great for a coffee or a beer overlooking the beach.
